Sunday, September 19th, 2010

Patio is a place used to spend time with family and it would be the best place to spend time during the weekend with the family. I personally like sitting their on a sunny summer afternoon with the family and enjoy the day. You can have you meals prepared there itself, and for that the place should be attached to the house with ease and should every floor should have an access to the location.

Patio stairs are used for the same, wherein the staircase opens directly into the patio and usually it is on the exterior of the house but some even prefer to install it on the inside, the patio is generally covered with various patio umbrellas and a matching patio furniture. Since the location has a prominent place in the family so it is given a nice decoration and is equipped with many accessories.

Patio stairs are generally made of metal and stainless steel is one of the most sort after material for the patio location. The idea here is to get a long lasting staircase that look very attractive and will last for a long time too. In case of the patio stairs the stair stringers are generally of metal and the treads can be of any material that can sustain the weather conditions.

People prefer prefabricated stairs instead of site made, because of the more availability of choices and also they don’t have to undergo the hard work of making the entire product themselves and moreover the prefabricated versions are more precise in there dimensions and a very end technology is used to manufacture these units, which is not at all possible in case of site built one’s. Patio stairs that are built in the interior section of the house can be of any material like hardwood and even glass.

4 Kinds Of Lawn Rollers Which You Can Use

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

Lawn rollers are aids when it comes to garden maintenance. They are effective and easy to use which is why they are very popular nowadays. They are commonly used for putting down a new lawn because they can balance out the bulges and imperfections. If you also fancy planting a new crop, you can also use these rollers to fully embed the seeds on the soil. Nowadays, you can find four different kinds of lawn rollers in the market. Each type has its special purpose, advantages and disadvantages.

  • Plastic rollers. Rollers which are made of this material have the advantage of being light weight. Thus if you plan to use them, you will not be so laden on the mass because they are easy to maneuver and carry. However, they can be limited in terms of the scope of the lawn which they can cover. Plastics are not your best type of material for this job which gives them limited power usage. Pushing them too hard might cause them to break and get damage.
  • Poly rollers. This is another kind of material. Poly-made rollers have better quality than plastic rollers because they can carry heavier loads and can be used for demanding rolling jobs. They are also known to be resilient because they do not deteriorate easily when they get wet. These are like the basic kind of rollers because they need to be filled with water and soil to add a little bit of weight on the drum.
  • Steel-made rollers. Steel have always been a good material for heavy duty jobs. If you have a steel roller, you will be assured that your lawns will become flat and even. They are also durable because they do not easily break no matter how hard you push them down. But these rollers are not so easy to push. Maybe you can carry along doing this manually for a few minutes but if the work lasts longer than that, it would then be a good idea to attach it to a garden tractor.
  • Concrete rollers. Similar with the steel rollers, concrete rollers are strong and long lasting. But they are also very heavy. If you use this by hand, you will have to exert so much effort on it so that you can get the right balance for your garden. So better use a garden tractor for some assistance. But the good thing about this lawn roller is that you can use it for wide areas without getting damage. They can also stand getting wet without acquiring rust and depletion. What’s even better than those qualities is that it brings out good results for your lawn.

Easy to Use Garden Lighting Solutions

Gardens can be accented with so many types of decor and lighting. Garden lights are very important if you plan on enjoying your backyard at night. Nighttime viewing of a garden is quite a unique experience but is only made possible with the addition of outdoor light fixtures. Adding these lights is easier than it may sound, as many of the lights you will need can be bought online or at a local store. The use of solar lights is a growing trend which is only becoming more popular with time. One example is the use of solar spot lights to illuminate plants and structures around the garden.

Solar spot lights are designed to project a powerful stream of light onto a single object of choice. Because of their potency, it is recommended that only a few be used in any given area. They can be placed randomly or lined up with objects or plants that are in a pattern. To select the best spots for these garden lighting fixtures, look around your garden for the biggest, most prominent objects like large plants, water fountains or boulders. Any of these items can be accented with spot lights.

To start, place your new solar spot light onto the ground and point the beam up onto the object. You want to aim for the center of the object so most of the light falls onto it. While the color white is used most frequently, other colors like blue, red and green are available in the form of colored discs which are placed over the light. Outdoor spot lights are safe to use in the presence of normal weather conditions and can be left outside at all times. Spot lights allow you to breathe life into your otherwise dark and dreary garden. Using solar lights gets you up and running in the fastest time possible.

Outdoor Patio Umbrella Lighting

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

Patio umbrellas are known for providing much needed shade to hot patios and yards. Their thick fabric canopies filter out visible and UV light to cool an area by a noticeable amount. Various features like tilting canopies and hand cranks make these shades the best around. What some consumers do not realize is that patio umbrellas have a secondary purpose when equipped with a simple modification. Umbrella lights are a handy and viable way to provide illumination to a backyard space. Umbrellas such as these are ideal mounting places for such lights because they already reside around high traffic areas.

Patio umbrella lights are currently manufactured in two basic models, one that clips onto the pole and another which clips onto the umbrella underside. Both are interesting and unexpected, but to choose the right one you must determine what type of patio umbrella you own.
Cantilever umbrellas can currently only work with a single type of patio umbrella light. String clip on lights can be attached to each rod underneath the umbrella. In each set, you get approximately six to eight different string lights. Each string has its own set of clips which are used to attach them to each rod. Once activated, the lights will shine prominently, creating pockets of star-like lights which shine down below. This functional light source can be used to enjoy your patio in the dark.

If you have a standard type umbrella which has a support pole, you can use what is referred to as a disc umbrella light. Disc lights are small light modules which clip around the pole tightly. They can be removed easily and moved up or down the pole to adjust the light. These inconspicuous light sources can create a remarkable amount of light thanks to powerful LED bulbs. The standard light bulb color for these systems is white.
