Droid by Motorola
Friday, October 23rd, 2009There is a lot of debate going on around the online gadget and mobile phone experts about the Droid by Motorola being the thing that will put Motorola back on the map. It is supposed to be the answer to Apples iPhone – coming a bit late – and their breakthrough to the smartphone markets.
The hype is getting larger as the release date of the Droid by Motorola is approaching – this is the hype that was lacking when they released their previous smartphone Cliq, that did not become that big of a product that they were expecting.
Droid runs on the Android OS which Motorola is backing quite a lot on. Unlike the iPhone it can do what all of the other Android smartphones are doing – multitasking. This has been one of the biggest lacks in Apples products. For someone using the phone for business purposes it is important to be able to have multpile programs running at the same time.
The Droid by Motorola does not rely on a touch screen, unlike many of its competitors, but it boasts a full sized QWERTY keyboard which slides from the backside of the phone – it will provide a more laptop like feel compared to the touch screen phones. Compared to its strongest competitors there are some same looks as the iPhone, but with a more blocky feel.
Besides just a computer like feel, it has a 5 megapixel camera, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a regular 3,5mm headphone jack. The size of the screen is a respectable 3,7″ and weighing just under 170grams it is a bit heavier than most of its competitors. The most important difference is that the Android Webkit has HTML 5 and Flash 10, which are going to make flash websites accessible with this tool.
The Droid by Motorola uses a microSD card and comes with a 16GB and can be boosted as high as 32GB.

Hurricane Rick has escalated to a category 5 hurricane (this means that the wind speeds are above 155 mph) while over the Mexican Pacific Coast. It is showing out to be the most powerful Storm in a while and it is considered as “extremely powerful”. If a hurricane of this power would hit a city where there are high buildings, almost all the windows would be shattered and picked up by the wind. There has been made calcutaions about the Hurricane Rick projected path and the most recent data shows that it might just well stay away from the coast for even five days until it starts to turn towards Peninsula. By the time it gets that far it would be already decreased to a category 2 hurricane.

There has been a fatal shooting in the Great Mall of Milpitas. One man was killed in the two story building and the mall remained open for the rest of the day. The police closed the part of the mall where the Great Mall Shooting took place, and business was continued in a normal fashion. For now police are not giving out the identity of the victim to the public. Most likely they want to keep it private until they can inform the victims family and friends.
Today it is, the time to be extra nice and thank your boss if she or he has been kind to you the past year – it’s National Boss Day 2009, also known as Bosses Day. There is some controversy about the day in the United States and it has been nicknamed the Hallmark Holiday.
